DO YOU HAVE THE SPIRIT?

Many believers claim to have received
the Holy Spirit, that Jesus promised to those who seek to obey and
follow Him. It is however not clear how the Holy Spirit manifests in
their lives because very little if any of the workings of the Spirit,
as foretold by Jesus are present in their lives.
Before Jesus was crucified He said to
His disciples: “But
I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if
I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I
will send Him to you.
8“And
He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and
righteousness and judgment;
9concerning
sin, because they do not believe in Me;
10and
concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no
longer see Me;
11and
concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
12“I
have many more things to say to you, but you cannot
bear
them now. 13“But
when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the
truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He
hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to
come.
14“He
will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose
it to
you.
15“All
things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes
of Mine and will disclose
it to
you.” John 16:7-14.
After Jesus was crucified, before He
ascended to heaven He commanded His disciples to go to Jerusalem and
wait for the Spirit. We read about it in Acts 1 & 2. The Holy
Spirit was given on the day of Pentecost. Those who received the
baptism in the Holy Spirit not only spoke in tongues, but they went
forth, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God under guidance of
the Holy Spirit, with signs and wonders.
They were not operating on their own,
by their own initiative. Having received the Spirit of Christ, they
had Christ in them. They were following His guidance, going where He
sent them, speaking His words, being taught by Him.
Modern Christianity is Letter based,
Bible based, doctrine based with little if any working and
manifestation of the Holy Spirit. In which way are the lives of those
who claim to have receiver the Holy Spirit impacted, and how are they
impacting the world around them? Are they only laying claim to some
experience of have they RECEIVED Jesus. Is Christ in them? Is Jesus
living in them and being manifested through them?
Many do have spirits in them, evil
spirits, lust, greed, religious spirits, rage, jealousy, hatred,
immorality, pride, murder, homosexuality, and many more, even though
they call themselves Christians.
The Spirit of Christ does not cohabit
with evil spirits. Our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Do we
have the Holy Spirit?
May Jesus bless you.
