Wrestling with the Scriptures

Bible students and theologians like to wrestle with the Scriptures. They pick and choose and they apply scriptures in such a way as to fit in with their understanding or with their theories and their theology, but they never come to the truth because they are occupied with their own mind and their own desires, and their own beliefs. 

Jesus Christ gives the Holy Spirit in those who obey Him.  The Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth. If you wrestle with the Scriptures you always win, because you apply the scriptures to your own liking, your own desire, to your own understanding; but those who seek the truth go on their knees, they seek Jesus and they wrestle with the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, will guide you into all truth, but you will not win against the Spirit of God, the truth will always win it will triumph over lies and any opinions of man.

Those who are pure in heart will see God. Those who seek the truth do not wrestle with the Scriptures, they wrestle with the Spirit of God and they are taught the truth. They are not in darkness because the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, will teach them and guide them into the whole truth. The Spirit of Truth will refute the lies that we have been brought up with, the lies that we've been told and that we have come to believe. It is to our advantage to seek the truth to wrestle with the Spirit of God until the truth is revealed  in us and to us. The Holy Spirit of God will guide us into all truth, if we truly seek Him.

Do not wrestle with the Scriptures. Do not try and make the Scriptures fit into your theology. Rather seek the truth, go on your knees and speak to Jesus. Ask Him to guide you into all truth and a Holy Spirit will enlighten your mind, will give you understanding of the truth.

Understanding the Scriptures

Understanding and WISDOM comes from God alone. We do not gain UNDERSTANDING of the Scriptures, the Bible, through our own studies or through the explanations of other people. It is only when the Holy Spirit reveals the true meaning to us that we really start understanding the Scriptures.
The disciples of Jesus followed Him for three and a half years and listened to Him, they heard His words, they saw everything that He did but they still did not understand the scriptures. They were frightened when Jesus appeared to them after His death and resurrection, they thought He was a ghost. They were amazed and frightened when they heard that some of them had seen Jesus alive after His death and resurrection. We read in Luke 24:36 “While they were telling these things, He Himself stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be to you.” 37But they were startled and frightened and thought that they were seeing a spirit. 38And He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39“See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” 40And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. 41While they still could not believe it because of their joy and amazement, He said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” 42They gave Him a piece of a broiled fish; 43and He took it and ate it before them.
      44Now He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45THEN HE OPENED THEIR MINDS TO UNDERSTAND THE SCRIPTURES, 46and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, 47and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48“You are witnesses of these things. 49“And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:36-49.
He opened their minds to understand the scriptures. Only then did they UNDERSTAND and then He commanded them to stay in Jerusalem until they had received the Holy Spirit which He had promised, Who would teach them and guide them into all truth. We cannot understand the Scriptures from our own mind, our own understanding and insight or from what other people tell us. We cannot understand the mysteries of God, neither SEE the Kingdom of God unless it is REVEALED to us by the Holy Spirit, but we need to RECEIVE the Holy Spirit, we need to receive WISDOM FROM GOD. Human wisdom cannot explain the mysteries of God. We need the baptism in the Holy Spirit and we need to be led by the Holy Spirit and then we will UNDERSTAND the Scriptures.
If you want UNDERSTANDING you have to ask Jesus to open your mind and give you WISDOM, then you will UNDERSTAND the Scriptures.

A Fatal Relationship with the Bible

Most people who call themselves Christians have a fatal relationship with the Bible. They are continuously busy with the Bible, with scriptures, justifying themselves, proving their salvation, instead of LISTENING to the Holy Spirit. Jesus gave the Holy Spirit to convict the world of SIN, RIGHTEOUSNESS and JUDGEMENT. He also gives his Holy Spirit in those who seek Him, who FOLLOW Him and who OBEY Him.

Your relationship with the Bible takes you AWAY from Jesus. If you are busy with the Bible, Bible study, scriptures, looking for verses that apply to your situation, looking for guidance, working out equations of salvation using certain scriptures, then you are not busy with Jesus Christ. You need to be LISTENING to the Holy Spirit, not studying the Bible, the writings of men.

Those who are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Those who occupy themselves with Jesus Christ, who are SPIRITUALLY CONNECTED to Him, LISTENING, FOLLOWING and OBEYING Him they are in the RIGHT RELATIONSHIP with Jesus Christ. But those who ignore Him, who occupy themselves with their Bible are engaged in a FATAL RELATIONSHIP because they will stand before Jesus and He will say to them: “Go away I never knew you, you workers of wickedness,” because they were busy with their Bibles and not LISTENING to the Holy Spirit. They had no relationship with Jesus Christ Himself.  

How is your relationship with Jesus? Are you following and OBEYING Him? Are you doing what is pleasing to Him? Are you receiving CONFIRMATION from Jesus that He Himself is pleased with you? Do you PRAY, LISTEN and WAIT on the Lord or do you just read your Bible? Get to know Jesus and follow Him or you will end up in damnation WITH YOUR BIBLE.

UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLE

The Bible is the most misunderstood and perverted book in the whole world. People keep on reading and studying the Bible and they come up with different INTERPRETATIONS. There are hundreds of perverted versions of the Bible and instead of coming to knowledge people become more and more confused as they read the Bible.

Even the disciples of Jesus did not understand the scriptures but He opened their minds so that they could understand the scriptures and then they GAINED UNDERSTANDING. Understanding does not come from studies or from reading commentaries or from reading different translations or versions of the Bible, UNDERSTANDING COMES FROM JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF. If you PRAY and you ASK HIM He will GIVE YOU UNDERSTANDING.

People do not understand the gospel of Jesus Christ by which we are saved. The gospel of Jesus Christ are the WORDS OF JESUS as recorded by the writers in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John but people don't understand it. Yet it is PURE AND SIMPLE. The words of Jesus are PURE. You just need to READ them and OBEY them and the power of God will work in your life and you will UNDERSTAND THEM. REPENT and be BAPTIZED IN WATER for the washing off of your sin, live RIGHTEOUSLY and HOLY in OBEDIENCE to Jesus Christ ans HE WILL REVEAL HIMSELF TO YOU. He will FILL YOU with the HOLY SPIRIT as He promised.

It is PLAIN and SIMPLE. Go and read the gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and PRAY. Ask Jesus to give you UNDERSTANDING to OPEN YOUR MIND and you will understand it. UNDERSTANDING comes from Jesus Christ ALONE. PRAY and He will OPEN YOUR MIND and you will SEE THE LIGHT, you will UNDERSTAND.

BEYOND the Bible

Eternal life is KNOWING, OBEYING and FOLLOWING Jesus Christ, being in close relationship with Him. Jesus said:”He who has My teachings (My words) and keeps them (obeys), that is the one who loves Me and Me and My Father will come and dwell with that person and I will reveal Myself to him.” (Read John 14:21-24).
If we have the teachings of Jesus and we OBEY Him; we REPENT of sin, STOP SINNING, SIN NO MORE, live righteously and holy, accept Jesus as MASTER, OBEY His words and we are baptized in water like He commanded, THEN HE WILL REVEAL HIMSELF TO US. He will give His Spirit , His Holy Spirit to LIVE in us and to GUIDE us, Jesus Christ will become REAL to us but MOST BELIEVERS NEVER GET TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST. They read about Him in the Bible and instead of following Him, obeying Him and being led by the Holy Spirit THEY STAY WITH THE SCRIPTURES.
When Jesus came the pharisees who expected him to come, they were waiting for Messiah, they rejected Him and Jesus said to them:”You diligently search the scriptures, in there to find eternal life but you refuse to come to me to have life.” Exactly the same thing is happening today, believers cannot get BEYOND THE SCRIPTURES! They cannot put the Bible down and start following Jesus. Jesus never becomes a reality tot them and He will say to them:”Go away I never knew you,” because they do not obey His words, they do not repent and stop sinning, they refuse to be baptized in water but they keep on going to church and doing Bible study and they think that because they know the Bible and they can quote the scriptures that they have eternal life. BUT they don't know Jesus! They never obeyed Him, they never got to know Him and they do not follow Him. They haven't received the Holy Spirit.
Have YOU gone beyond the scriptures? Have you found Jesus? Is Jesus Christ your reality or are you still into “The Word” into the Bible?
You have to get to know Jesus Christ and He must be your reality. You musty get BEYOND THE SCRIPTURES and KNOW the ONE whom the scriptures are about. You have to KNOW and FOLLOW Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul said:”I KNOW the ONE in whom I believe.” Do you KNOW Jesus Christ and do you follow Him? Have you gone BEYOND THE SCRIPTURES? Is Jesus Christ your reality?
