DO NOT ABANDON YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS

Many believers accept Jesus, but very
soon they abandon their relationship with Him. Some were never taught
to work on their relationship with Jesus. They were told that they
only need to believe in Jesus and then they will have eternal life.
“Everyone who calls on the Name of
the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13. Jesus saves from sin. He
pardons our past sin and give us a new beginning. He makes us a child
of God, if we repent and accept Him. He gives us the hope of eternal
life and the hope to inherit the kingdom of heaven. However, we only
have the hope of eternal life as long as we stay with Jesus and obey
Him. Jesus needs to know us.
If we go back to sin and living worldly
lives Jesus warned that He will deny us. Being religious, going to
church, reading your Bible, even preaching, working for the church,
casting out demons in the name of Jesus and doing miracles in His
name, will not ensure our salvation. Jesus said: “Not
everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of
heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven
will
enter.
 22“Many
will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in
Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform
many miracles?’
23“And
then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you;
DEPART
FROM
 MEYOU
WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS
.’
“ Matthew 7:21-23.
Jesus only gives eternal life to those
who follow and obey Him. He said:
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;
28and
I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one
will snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:27,28.
Practicing
religion is not a relationship with Jesus. Our relationship with
Jesus is through prayer and walking with Him, hearing His voice,
following and obeying Him. We grow and maintain our relationship with
Jesus through constant communion with Him, in our spirit, through His
Spirit that He makes to dwell in us, if we obey Him. Sin and
disobedience breaks off our communion with Jesus, our connection with
Him. Repentance and obedience restores our communion with Him. The
moment we willfully sin, we separate ourselves from Jesus, and we
stay separated until we repent and go back to Him. We have to
maintain our relationship with Jesus through holiness and obedience,
always seeking and doing His will. He will guide us, if we FOLLOW
Him, but we have to seek His guidance.
Jesus
gives His Holy Spirit in those who obey His words and commandments,
and He guides them by His Spirit. Many believers do not obey the
words and commandments of Jesus as they are recorded in the gospels,
in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. They refuse to repent and be
baptized and live holy. How will they then receive and obey the Holy
Spirit? That is why many believers never receive the Holy Spirit.
Others have received the Holy Spirit, but they do not obey Him. They
follow their own mind and their own lusts, not Jesus. Others follow
after other people, preachers and churches. They have abandoned their
relationship with Jesus and they will perish in hell if they do not
get back to Him, restore their relationship, and follow and obey Him
until the end.
How
is our relationship with Jesus? Do we obey His words and
commandments? Have we repented and been baptized in water as Jesus
commanded? Are we living holy and righteously? Do we pray and seek
Jesus? Have we received His Holy Spirit dwelling in us? Do we hear
Him, listen and obey, follow Him? Is our relationship with Jesus
growing. Most importantly: Does Jesus know us, and is He pleased with
us?
Is
our relationship with Jesus well and alive or have we abandoned Him?
Are we really following Jesus or are we busy with lip service and
religion?
May
Jesus bless you.
