Do You Have Extra Oil?

We must never become complacent about our relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself warned us, as I read in Matthew chapter 25:"Then the kingdom of heaven will be compared to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were prudent. For when the foolish took their lamps they took no oil with them, but the prudent took oil in flasks along with their lamps. Now while the bridegroom was delaying they all got drowsy and began to sleep, but at midnight there was a shout:"Behold the bridegroom, come out to meet Him." Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. The foolish said to the prudent, "Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out," but the prudent answered "No they will not be enough for us and you too. Go instead to the dealers and buy some for yourselves," and while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with Him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut. Later the other virgins also came saying:"Lord Lord open up for us but He answered:"Truly, I say to you, I do not know you." Be on the alert then for you do not know the day nor the hour."

Now we see that these ten virgins the, wise and the foolish, both were waiting for the coming of the bridegroom. Both had prepared, but both of them became drowsy and they fell asleep, but the five prudent virgins had extra oil for their lamps. The foolish virgins did not have that extra oil. What is the extra oil? It is our relationship with Jesus Christ. Do we seek Him? Do we follow Him. Do we hear from Him? Are we walking close to Him, or do we become complacent? Many believers want other believers to speak to God for them? They say:"Pray for me. Go and ask Jesus for me." You need to look after your own relationship with Jesus, because what will Jesus say to those who were ready but they did not have the extra oil and they went to get extra oil? What will He say to them? He will say:"Go away, I do not know you."

Many believers think that they are saved because they believe in Jesus, but they have no relationship with Jesus. Some have a poor relationship, it's off and on. We need to follow Jesus every day. We need to never become complacent, but seek Him, seek His guidance, seek His presence. Follow Him every day because if we don't, we will hear those terrible words:"Go away I never knew you."

Are we following Jesus diligently every day? Do we seek Him? Are we serious about our relationship with Jesus? If we are not serious and if we do not keep that relationship then we are in danger of hellfire? Don't become complacent. Seek Jesus every day for yourself. Hear from Him and make sure that He is pleased with you.

May Jesus bless you.
