Happiness and Contentment

Most professing Christians fail to
achieve contentment and happiness in Christ because they do not
understand what their purpose is. The Lord Jesus came into this world
and we read in Hebrews chapter 10 verse 5 it says: "Therefore
when He comes into the world He says:'Sacrifice and offering You have
not desired but a body You have prepared for me. In hole burnt
offering and sacrifices for sin You have taken no pleasure. Then He
said behold I have come in the scroll of the book it is written of Me
to do Your will O God.'
The purpose for which Jesus came into
this world was not to realize Himself but to do the will of God, and
that is what we are called to do, the will of God. We are not called
to realize our desires and fulfill our personal goals. We are not
called to sacrifice ourselves for Jesus Christ, or for the kingdom of
God. We are called to do the will of God. That is why Jesus
said:"Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and
all the other things will be added unto you." He teaches us the
Lord's Prayer where we pray "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven..."
Our purpose is not to satisfy
ourselves, not personal happiness, not achievement in life, but to do
the will of God, to bring glory unto Jesus Christ by remaining in
Him. Jesus said that we cannot be fruit if we do not remain in Him.
It is only if we remain in Him, in His will, being led by His Holy
Spirit seeking His kingdom and His righteousness, that we can achieve
that place of contentment and peace in Christ, where we know that we
are doing the will of God.
The only way that we can know that we
are doing the will of God is if we are led by the Holy Spirit, and if
we receive confirmation from the Holy Spirit the Spirit of Christ in
us, that we are doing His will.
Believers have many wrong ideas of what
it means to be a fruitful child of God, it is because they are not
led by the Holy Spirit. It is only when we are personally, each of
us, led by the Holy Spirit, and we fulfill the purpose for which He
has called us, that we can serve His purpose and that we can have
contentment joy and happiness in
Christ. We might be shunned by the world. We might be rejected by
other believers but as long as we are approved of by Jesus Christ,
then we can have peace in the midst of turmoil even though the whole
world is falling to pieces around us. Our peace should be because we
are in Christ, because our relationship with Him is right, because He
confirms to us that He is satisfied with us.
Are we receiving confirmation from
Jesus Christ that He is pleased with us? Are we serving the purpose
for which He has called us? Are we doing the will of God.
May Jesus bless you.
