First Love

The greatest commandment  is:"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”Deuteronomy 6:5

Jesus Christ is God. He is the WAY, He is the TRUTH and He is the Life. If we want eternal life we have to believe in Him, accept Him, follow Him and obey Him until the very end. We have to love Him above all things.

As Jesus also said, I read from Luke 14:26,27. “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters — yes, even his own life — he cannot be My disciple. 27And whoever does not carry his cross and follow Me cannot be My disciple."

If we do not love Jesus Christ above all things than we are not worthy of Him.

Jesus Christ also said: 15“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. " John 14:15.

The commandments of Jesus Christ are the words that He spoke, what He commanded, as also recorded in the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. If we love Him we will obey Him, we will obey His words; we will repent and be baptized, we will live our lives according to His words, His commands, His instructions, we will seek Him above all things and love Him above all things.

We read in Revelation 2:4,5. the warning that Jesus gives to one of the churches: 4‘But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 5‘Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place—unless you repent."

Verse 7. “To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God.“

Jesus Christ requires of us that we love Him above all. he must be our first love.

Has Jesus Christ ever been our first love? Did we accept Him with all our heart and turn away from our wicked ways, turn away from our selfish existence and fall in love with Him, accept Him and do the deeds that are pleasing to Him? Did we ever repent and accept Jesus Christ? Were we ever born again? If we did, do we still love Him as much as we did when we first came to know Him? Is Jesus Christ our first love? If He is not, then we  had better repent and put Jesus Christ first, above everything or else we are not worthy of Him.

We have to love Him, obey Him, live for Him and endure with Him until the very end. Do we really love Jesus  Christ, or is our love and our faith just empty words?

May Jesus bless you.
