The Benefit of the Holy Spirit Tongues

I want to explain to you the benefits of being baptized in the Holy Spirit and having the ability to pray in tongues. The baptism in the Holy Spirit, with tongues, is promised to every person who believes in Jesus Christ and who obeys Him.

Many do not understand the baptism in the Holy Spirit and others do not want the baptism in the Holy Spirit, but Jesus will not force the gift of the Holy Spirit on anybody, He gives the gift to those who thirst for Him, the TRUE WORSHIPERS.

I want to start with the woman at the well. We read in John 4:13 "Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; 14but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” Then verse 23 “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Jesus was telling this woman that He will gives Streams of Living Water in those who are thirsty, those who WANT to worship Him, the TRUE WORSHIPERS.

We further read that Jesus said: John 7:37On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and called out in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38To the one who believes in Me, it is just as the Scripture has said: ‘Streams of living water’ will flow from within him. 39He was speaking about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. For the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified."

After Jesus was glorified and ascended to Heaven the Holy Spirit was poured out on the day of Pentecost. We read about that in Acts 1 and 2.

Before Jesus ascended to heaven He gathered His disciples and He gave them instruction. We read in Acts 1:4 "Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; 5for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” He goes on to say in verse 8 "but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

We read in Acts 2:1 "When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. 4And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance."

They were speaking as the Holy Spirit gave them utterance. The Holy Spirit provided what they uttered through their mouths. They were speaking to God, they were glorifying God, and some of the people around them that were from other nations, that were of other languages, heard these people who did not know their languages, speak of the great deeds of God in their own language. These people did not even know what they were saying but the Holy Spirit gave utterance to them.

The apostle Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 14: 2 "For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries.4One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; "

The purpose of the tongues, that those receive , who are baptized in the Holy Spirit, is for them to be able to worship God in spirit and in truth.

When we pray, we very soon run out of words when we pray in our own mind , we run out of things to pray; we don't know what to pray and therefor Paul also explains in Romans 8:26 "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words. 27And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God."

When we pray in tongues, the Holy Spirit , who dwells in us, gives us utterance, and even though we do not know what we are saying, what we are praying to God, the Holy spirit intercedes for us and through us, and with us, through our tongue, because we speak the utterance that He gives us to say. We do not rightfully know what to pray; we can pray for the will of God to be done, but we do not know what the will of God is, but the Holy Spirit knows and if we pray in tongues, we pray according to the will of God.

The apostle Paul also prayed much in tongues. we read that he says in 1 Corinthians 14:18 "I thank God, I speak in tongues more than you all; 19however, in the church I desire to speak five words with my mind so that I may instruct others also, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue."

We can pray with our mind and we can also pray in the spirit, but when our mind runs out of words and thoughts to pray about, the Holy Spirit helps us  and therefor we have to pray in the spirit to be built up, to be edified, in our relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit baptism and gifts are not a guarantee of salvation, neither is it an indication of our fruitfulness. Our fruitfulness depends on our relationship with Jesus Christ and if we do not bear good fruit we will get CUT OFF AND BURNED, even though we have received all the gifts of the Holy Spirit - if there is not fruit, if there is no good fruit, then we are bad trees and we will get cut off and burned, we will end up in hell. And this is why Paul also writes in 1 Corinthians 13:1 "If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing."

The purpose of the Holy Spirit baptism and praying in tongues, is for us to be able to continuously pray and worship in spirit and in truth, so that we can be edified in our spirit, so that we can be built up in our relationship with Jesus Christ. It is through communion with Him in prayer that we draw closer to Him and that is why we must not only have the baptism in the Holy Spirit but practice praying in tongues.

The gift of speaking in tongues is not for public display. When we pray we must pray in private and not make a public spectacle like so many people do. Jesus Christ called them hypocrites, and therefor we read His words in  Matthew 6:5 "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their reward. 6But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

Our relationship with Jesus Christ is through prayer. If you do not pray, you have no relationship with Him. You can read your Bible, you can go to church, you can watch Christian videos, you can go to fellowship, you can go to praise and worship in the church, you can do religious things, read religious books but if you do not pray, in spirit and in truth, then you have no relationship with Jesus Christ.

Jesus gives us the Holy spirit and the ability to pray in tongues so that we can continuously, uninterruptedly pray in tongues, in your inner room,  praying in the spirit, while also praying with your mind, while you go about your daily activities, you can be praying in the spirit. In your mind, the Holy Spirit, in you, giving you the utterance, so that you can continuously be in prayer, that you can be FILLED with the Holy Spirit; streams of Living Water can only flow through us if we PRAY, and if we pray in the spirit. If you pray with your own mind you are limited, you will soon run out of words, get bored, and not know what to pray. but if you pray in the spirit, you can pray for hours on end, you will not run out of words to pray because the Holy Spirit will supply those words. You will be edified in your spirit and you will be FILLED with the Spirit, Streams of Living Water will flow through you.

Dear friend, are you filled with the Holy Spirit? Are streams of living water flowing through you, that living water that Jesus promised to those who seek him, the true worshipers? Are you a true worshiper? Have you received the baptism in the Holy Spirit  and do you pray in the Spirit? Do you have a DESIRE  for the Holy Spirit? Do you have a DESIRE for streams of living water? Do you thirst and do you hunger for the Spirit of God? Do you desire a closer relationship with Jesus Christ? Do you want to be filled with the Spirit? Then ASK Him!

Repent, and be baptized and ask Jesus to fill you with the Holy Spirit. You have to receive it, before you can have it, and you have to practice it for streams of living water to be continuously flowing through, you from the inner man, streams of living water that spring up into eternal life!

Do you have that LIFE in you? Are you FILLED with the Spirit of the Living God?

No Commitment No Benefits

Many people want the benefits of being married but they are not willing to make a commitment to a marriage partner and therefor they co-habit, they live together in sin. There are many people who call themselves believers in Jesus Christ who also want His benefits but they are not willing to make a commitment to Jesus Christ - THEY WILL NOT HAVE HIS BENEFITS
The benefits of Jesus Christ, eternal life and the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for those who COMMIT to Jesus Christ, who LOVE Him, who FOLLOW Him and who OBEY Him. If you do not turn away from sin, if you do not REPENT and follow Jesus Christ with all your heart then you will not have His benefits. he said:"Why do you call Me Lord, Lord and you do not what I say?" Without Jesus we can do nothing, but Jesus does not accept half measures. You cannot have His benefits if you do not totally commit to follow Him, to OBEY Him and to SERVE Him as Lord and Master.
Don't ASSUME that you will have salvation because you confess to believe in Jesus Christ and because you can recite some Bible verses to "prove" your salvation. It will all be to no avail because you will not have the benefits of Jesus Christ if you do not utterly commit to Him, obey Him, follow Him and serve Him. You cannot have it both ways. It's either Jesus Christ or DAMNATION.

Be SERIOUS

Jesus Christ came into this world on SERIOUS BUSINESS. He came to save the world from sin, He came to save the lost, He came to DIE, He came to SUFFER. He came to GIVE HIS LIFE so that those who ACCEPT HIM can have life. But He was rejected, persecuted, slandered, they spat on Him, they tortured Him, they hung Him on a cross and they killed Him, for you and for me. The world did not accept Jesus, the world rejected Jesus.

They accepted what He gave to them. They accepted the healings, they accepted the bread and the fish when He fed the multitudes but THEY WOULD NOT GO WITH HIM. They would not stay with Him. THEY REJECTED HIM.

This world does not accept Jesus. Many so called Christians accept Jesus by their confession but they do not walk with Jesus. They are not associated with Jesus. They are associated with their church and their pastor and their Bible (KJV, NIV, NAS...) but not with Jesus. They will not follow after Jesus. If we are not willing to go after Jesus, follow and obey Him, be associated with Him, be rejected and persecuted because of Him and if we do not remain faithful to Him until the end then we will not spend eternity with Him, WE WILL NOT BE SAVED.

We cannot just accept the good things, want eternal life but reject Jesus. If we are not serious about our relationship with Jesus Christ He will also turn us away. If we deny Him He will certainly deny us. If we reject Him He will say to us:”Go away I never knew you, you worker of wickedness.” How serious are we about our relationship with Jesus? How SERIOUS are we about OBEYING Him and DOING what He commands?

Many believers will not obey Him and be baptized in water. Others will not accept the Holy Spirit which He sent to guide and teach us, they rather stick to their Bibles and reject Jesus, exactly like the pharisees did, they stuck to their Bibles (Torah) and they crucified Jesus Christ.

How SERIOUS ARE WE about our relationship with Jesus Christ? Will we FOLLOW and OBEY Him and endure with Him until the very end? May Jesus bless you.  

Get your focus on Jesus

There is a way that seems right to man but the end of that road leads to destruction. You can plan your life and make provision for all circumstances, you can save money for old age, you can build yourself an empire and buy securities but if your security is not in Jesus Christ it will all crumble the day that you die. There is only one way that leads to eternal life and that is Jesus Christ.

If we do not KNOW Jesus, FOLLOW Him and OBEY Him and if our treasure is not IN HIM then we are LOST. If Jesus does not KNOW us and we are not intimately in close relationship with Him all the time, DOING His will then He will say to us:”Go away I never knew you, you workers of wickedness.”

You might think that you have found the way by THE WAY that you interpret the Bible or the church that you attend, or the friends that you have, the plans that you have made, but if your plan is not Jesus Christ and following Him then it will all disintegrate, it will fall to pieces the moment that you die.

Do you KNOW Jesus Christ and does He know YOU? Without Jesus we can do NOTHING. Without Jesus we are LOST and we have NO HOPE, NO FUTURE. Get your focus on Jesus, SEEK Him, and you will find Him. Get to know Him and He will guide you, He will teach you His ways and HE will give you eternal life, because Jesus Christ ALONE is the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE.

If Jesus Christ is not YOUR LIFE then you do not have life.

FREE CHOICE BENEFITS AND CONDITIONS

Jesus never forces nor manipulates us. He invites us to follow Him and if we follow Him He makes us children of God. He gives us the NEW BIRTH. But if we want to follow Jesus, by our own choice, then there are certain things that He expects of us. There are certain PRIVILEGES that we will receive but there are certain responsibilities that we have to take.

If we are children of God and we follow Jesus Christ we must SUBMIT ourselves to His discipline. We must OBEY Him. If we disobey Him He will discipline us. He does not force us to follow Him. We can leave Him if we so wish but WE WILL BEAR THE CONSEQUENCES. If we refuse Jesus we are already DOOMED and destined for ETERNAL DAMNATION. It is OUR CHOICE whether we want to follow Him but then we must SUBMIT TO HIM and SERVE Him as Lord. Then He becomes our Master because we have accepted Him as KING, LORD and MASTER.

If we reject His RULE then we lose the BENEFITS and we will end up in DAMNATION with the CHILDREN OF DISOBEDIENCE. God never forces us. He does not manipulate us. It is all by FREE WILL. He gives us FREE CHOICE but we will BEAR THE CONSEQUENCES of our ACTIONS. If we want His benefits we have to OBEY Him and SERVE Him as Lord and Master. We cannot do as WE PLEASE any more, we have to live to PLEASE HIM.

Do you want the benefits of Jesus? Do you want ETERNAL LIFE? Do you want PEACE? Do you want an EXPECTATION? Then SERVE Him and OBEY Him or else you will not share in His benefits. You will not have ETERNAL LIFE and you will not spend eternity with Him.

Seek God Not Just His Benefits

The whole world wants the benefits of God, the good things, the good life, eternal life but they do not want God's ways. Jesus Christ is God's WAY. God sent Jesus Christ to come and show us the WAY to be children of God and if we want eternal life we will have to follow Jesus Christ and His ways.

You cannot have God's benefits without having God's ways. If you reject Jesus Christ and His ways you will perish.

Are you following and obeying Jesus Christ? Are you going after Him and after His ways or do you just want God's benefits. People seek eternal life everywhere BUT Jesus. Jesus said to the pharisees:”You seek the scriptures in there to find eternal life but you refuse to come to Me and have life. Have you found Jesus? Are you going after Jesus and His ways? Are you seeking His approval? Have you received His Spirit and are you led by His Spirit? Do you follow and OBEY Jesus? Do you go after Him every day?

Jesus is the WAY. He is the DOOR and He will say to many in that day:”Go away I never knew you, you workers of wickedness.” Why? They didn't follow after Jesus. They followed after their own ways and they thought that they could have God's life without Jesus. Without Jesus you have got NOTHING. You have got no hope. Are you going after Jesus and God's ways or are you just seeking the benefits? Because in the end you will be a fool. He will turn you away and say to you:”I don't know you where you are from.”

Do you know Jesus and does He know you? Are you seeking and following HIM every day?
